For about a week is a new online web site of Linux & C Magazine historical reference for all professionals Italians in the Linux world.
The old site was outdated and really more than many readers complained about its faults and shortcomings.
With regard to the CMS technology, the choice of the team of Linux & C has fallen on WordPress (the same as that adopted for the realization of this blog).
I registered to post some comments and see that the platform is already out of date.
Moreover, the long-awaited publication of the new site would have paid - in my opinion - the activation of many web 2.0 features that still do not see, but this is specifically a beta, so give them time to organize.
Pleasant, however, the graphics, mainly due to the presence of penguins made likeable by stasso artist that designs the covers of the magazine, which in my opinion is itself collectibles!

OpenBEER , the group of Italian users of OpenBSD , the OpenCon organized again this year, an international conference dedicated to the famous operating system of BSD family.
The event will be held this weekend in Venice.

Here I respond to a request for help I received last week and so far I have not had time to respond.
I am asked for advice on a bash script that processes a set of directories and creates other temporarily in / tmp.
Without going into details of the case, to automatically generate lists or arrays directory comes in handy to brace expansion.
This is a special mechanism with which to bash you can generate arbitrary lists of names of files or directories.
In this sense it is similar to pathname expansion, although the latter is bound to the existence of files and / or the directory in question, while with coal expansion this limit is not expected.
The syntax is very simple and brace expansion expected to be listed in braces string that will be replaced in the same position within the main string, thereby generating variants that we need.
As always, an example is worth a thousand explanations:
to {b, c, d} and
expands into:
The brace expansion has priority over all other needs expansion and containing the opening and closing braces, and at least one separator (comma).

Yesterday I attended the presentation of the results of the Research Centre's 2008 TV's New School of Management of Politecnico di Milano .
Apart from some failings of one of the speakers, which has repeatedly sunk the level of attention of the audience, there is an interesting fact to be recorded, or the presence of dozens of managers in companies representing more than noble, Mediaset, RAI, Telecom Italy , RCS, Microsoft, etc..
We all know that the real killer app of 2009 will revolve around all the video transmission and the interest of all the leaders in the field confirms the expectations in this regard.
Us that we create solutions for at least 5 years in this area we can not wait confident that the explosion of what, in the opinion of many, will be the real phenomenon of 2009, thanks to the rapid viral spread of Ipone and equally valid smart phone competitors last generation.
